The Cortisol Reset
Retreat
A three-night retreat in beautiful Polperro, combining expert guidance, nourishing food and time to properly switch off. Discover how your stress response and cortisol can influence your health, and leave with practical strategies to help you reset, recharge and feel more like yourself again.
Could your stress response be affecting more than you realise?
Feeling tired but wired?
Waking in the early hours?
Struggling to switch off?
Or finding your weight, energy, digestion or hormones harder to manage despite doing all the 'right' things?
These symptoms can be easy to put down to a busy life, getting older or hormonal changes, but they don’t always exist in isolation.
Cortisol plays an important role in our sleep, energy, blood sugar, metabolism, immune function and hormonal health. When our stress-response system is constantly being called upon (work, life and everything in between) its natural rhythm can become disrupted.
The Cortisol Reset is about joining those dots.
We’ll explore the connections, help you understand what may be driving the way you feel and show you practical ways to support your body - while giving you three days to actually slow down and put some of it into practice.
Your Retreat Experience

Learn
We'll explore the science behind your stress hormones in a relaxed, practical way, connecting the dots between cortisol, sleep, circadian rhythm, hormones, metabolism, gut health and energy.
Our workshops are designed to help you understand how these systems work together and why stress can affect each of us differently.
You'll leave with evidence-based knowledge, practical strategies and simple changes you can confidently apply to everyday life.

Nourish
Food is a big part of the weekend.
Together with chef and fermentation expert Maz, you'll enjoy beautiful seasonal meals, discover simple fermentation techniques and learn how nourishing your body can support your energy, gut health and resilience to stress.
There are no diets, calorie counting or complicated rules, just real, delicious food. We will provide a breakfast and late lunch, which gives you free time in the evening to explore Polperro.

Unwind
We've deliberately created space in the weekend.
Start your day with morning light and optional sea dips before breakfast.
Enjoy time to explore Polperro, coastal walks, sit overlooking the harbour, read a book or simply do...nothing.
Because sometimes that's exactly what our bodies need.

The People Behind the Retreat
The retreat brings together our different backgrounds and shared belief that feeling better starts with understanding what’s going on in your body. Between us, we’ll combine Functional Medicine, practical health education, great food and fermentation, with plenty of time to step away from everyday life and reset.
So who are we?

Diane Edmonds
Functional Medicine trained Nutritional Therapist
Hi I'm Diane,
I’m passionate about helping people join the dots when it comes to their health - understanding what their body might be telling them and what could be driving their symptoms, rather than simply accepting them as something they have to live with.
And, like many people, I learnt this the hard way.
I’d always lived with stress and accepted its effects - headaches, rage, poor sleep, hormone and gut issues - as part of a busy life. Until one day, my body said enough. I broke, and life changed.
That set me on a journey to understand what had happened, why I felt the way I did and why nobody seemed able to join the dots and help me get better. Ultimately, it led me to retrain in Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine.
Functional Medicine looks at you as a whole person, exploring how different systems in the body interact and influence one another to understand what may be driving your symptoms. I often describe it as turning off the tap rather than continually mopping up the flood - what’s causing those symptoms in the first place?
And stress is a big part of that picture. Stress isn’t just something we feel - it creates a physiological response that influences virtually every system in the body. When that response becomes chronic, it can create a cascade of downstream effects that show up as poor sleep, digestive issues, changes in hormones, energy, blood sugar, weight and much more.
Over the weekend, I’ll help you understand what stress hormones are, how they affect your body and why it can show up in places you might not expect - giving you the knowledge and practical strategies to better support your health and feel better in everyday life.

Maz Pennington
Chef, Fermentation Fanatic & Your Cornish Host
Hi I’m Maz.
The chequered past which led me to where I am today includes studying Law at King’s College, London, Footwear Design at Cordwainer’s College, playing rugby for Belgium, writing a book on British truffles, dancing for a living and being a fitness instructor for 15 years.
My interest in food was piqued at the early age of five when, living in Belgium and attending a school with ten different language sections, I discovered that my Italian, Danish, French, German (etc!) friends all ate very different breakfasts, lunches and dinners from me. That interest has never waned and once I’d stopped buggering about with Law, rugby, dancing and shoes, I realised that FOOD was what I’d always wanted to do.
During the course of the weekend I will be producing delicious protein forward meals to help support your cortisol regulation and keep you focused on what you’ll learn in the workshops. I’ll also show you how to make a variety of your own fermented foods. It’s the most amazing, practical way to support your gut microbiome. It’s very easy, very satisfying and it’s a skill we’ve lost over the last century or so, in this country. Time to bring it back!
I’ve been working with Di since May 2026. We’re working towards regulating my cortisol, which has been berserk for - well, we think for quite a few decades. I’ve been astounded by how quickly some simple tweaks to my day have revolutionised my sleep and general wellbeing, and its for this reason that Di and I decided to put together this RESET Retreat, in the hope and solid expectation that it will help other people as much as it is helping me.
